Hi everyone!

Rikki the Realtor® here, sending out this month's blog/newsletter. I want to give all of my past/present/future customers all the valuable info possible, so I hope you'll follow along whenever you have time. 

I hope the holiday season treated all of you well and that you're excited that spring is getting closer every day!

The past few months brought me both great closings as well as listings. Things do slow down as the holidays and cold season approach but there are STILL homes available so please never hesitate to let me know if you or someone you know is looking; because we know life doesn't stop no matter the time of year.

Because of all of your business', I was able to take off some time to spend with my family friends so I hope you know as always just how grateful I am for all of you.

If you're wondering about what there is to do around the city this month, I've dropped just a couple of my favorites!

1. 3. Open Mic night at Grinder's KC- 1st Open Mic in this new location! Monday, February 9th 

One of Kansas City's most CHERISHED bookstores/bar, Afterword Tavern & Shelves, unfortunately closed at the end of last month. While they are looking for a new building to call home, Grinder's Kansas City has graciously offered to host the monthly Open Mic nights for a while. This takes place the second Monday of each month. From 6:30-9pm, enjoy some drinks and maybe order some of their famous pizzas while you listen (and maybe even perform) anything from poetry, comedy, to music. It's anticipated to be very different from the past year, but still a phenomenal time.

2. 2026 KC Brew Fest- Friday, February 21st

You may be wondering most of all, "What's going on in the housing market?"

Things are *kind of* starting to balance out some. We have not seen a rise in interest rates, yay! There are rumors that they will continue to go down. However, as far as the price of houses, those are not seeing a decline. People tend to list their homes in the spring and warmer months, so it shouldn't be long before we see TONS of properties hit the market. If you are thinking of selling your home, I'd consider getting it ready now before the competition floods in. If you're considering buying, now is still a beautiful time. Rumor has it that we are headed towards a buyer's market in the Greater KC area in 2026, meaning buyers will have more leverage than the past few years to ask for repairs and other negotiations.

Drink of the month: It is technically not Lemon Drop season, but all I can say is, why not? We do need citrus to battle flu and colds and while excessive alcohol definitely doesn't help fight germs, a little treat won't hurt! 

Design news: Bold colors in washrooms is the new trend 

Vibrant tones are slowly starting to replace "neutrals" which has been the trend for what seems like forever. However, according to House Beautiful magazine, if you're looking to go bold with the color: the best place to go bold is the bathroom! 

What do we think of this trend?

The affirmation to close us out: "I can make a home out of the bleakest of places."
