Rikki the Realtor® here, sending out this month's blog/newsletter. I want to give all of my past/present/future customers all the valuable info possible, so I hope you'll follow along whenever you have time. 

I hope October treated all of you well and that you're excited for the holidays!

October brought me a great closing on a home in Grandview. Things do slow down as the holidays and cold season approach but there are STILL homes available so please never hesitate to let me know if you or someone you know is looking; because we know life doesn't stop no matter the time of year.

You could look up what's going on around Kansas City next month but I'm here to give you the less-touristy version of events that I personally go to and love! You'll likely see me at all of them!

1. FREE Public Yoga Class @ The Mark Historical Apartments- Sat. Nov. 1st 10:30-11:30a.

This one is fun because it's FREE and in one of the coolest historical buildings in downtown KCMO.

2. Yoga @ the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts- Saturday, Nov. 8th 

Even if you're not a fan of yoga, you MUST come to this event at the Kauffman. An hour in the space alone is a magnificent sight to see! Under the skylight with views of (arguably) the BEST city in the country, it is a must-see. Add some gentle movement and relaxing LIVE music, it's great for EVERYONE. This event comes around every few months and I try to go every time. Due to the large attendance, there are two sessions offered, one at 8:30am and another at 10:30am. The tickets are around $10 and you know I love affordability! I'll leave the link below to purchase/get info; this one tends to sell out quickly.

3. Open Mic night at Afterword Tavern and Shelves- 1st Anniversary! 

In the KCMO Crossroads/Arts District happens the second Monday of each month and I try to NEVER miss. This month will fall on Monday, November 10th. As a lover of a good cocktail, a good book, and poetry, this is easily one of my favorites places in the city, but their Open Mic night is a must-see. The bookstore bar is locally-owned and a place inclusive of everyone. They just started doing open mic nights last year and I've heard tons of talent from poetry readings, music, and standup comedy. It's open to anyone that would like to sign up and it's FREE. It usually starts around 7pm, sign-ups open around 6:30, and you can get there as early as 5pm for a seat. I can't stress this one enough, especially because in November, they're celebrating the anniversary of their first Open Mic night. I'm sure we can expect some extra fun and treats!

4. Veteran's Breakfast- Tuesday, Nov. 11th 9-11am 

It goes without saying that we could never thank our veterans enough. We want to give our best effort as much as we can! Our office is hosting a FREE pancake breakfast for veterans and active duty and we hope you'll join us and share this with any service members you know. We want to celebrate our heroes on their special day and show our endless gratitude. This will be held at our Lee's Summit office: 701 NE Woods Chapel Rd. Lee's Summit, MO 64064

5. Toys for Tots

We are always looking to serve our community and this time of year, we aim to make the holidays brighter for the children in our community. We are now an official drop-off site for Toys for Tots. We are asking that if you have any new, unwrapped toys that you'll bring them by the office or let me know and I'd be happy to pick up! We want to donate as many toys as possible, so I hope you'll pass this information along as well. 

You may be wondering most of all, "What's going on in the housing market?"

As far as uncertainty goes, there is unfortunately still a lot of it as we head into November. The job and employment rates do have a large effect on mortgages, believe it or not. Uncertainty in the government doesn't always mean stop your housing endeavors, but keep a close eye and trust your agents and lenders' advice as well. The interest rates are actually starting to head towards numbers we like, if you are someone who pays close attention to those.

Also, as we head into fourth quarter, it may be helpful to remember that many try to avoid moving in the cold winter months. However, it could potentially be positive for buyers. There may be less inventory, but often the buyers hold the leverage because sellers may be trying to get their properties sold before the holiday season. Don't count yourself out, buyers. You may actually have more negotiating power at this time.

I leave you with a cocktail recipe, an affirmation, and an interior design tip to close out this month (because I'm a fun realtor hehe!).

Drink of the month: Hot Toddies, my favorite fall drink! Warming whiskey drinks are where I'm at for the rest of the season. Grab your favorite tea and brew it as you normally would. Add 2 ounces of your favorite whiskey, 2 tablespoons of honey, and a slice of lemon. Some even say these have healing properties if you're feeling under the weather. 

Design news: Color is back!! 

All we've been seeing recently is "neutral, neutral, neutral" as the prediction for trendiest colors in 2026. I've found 3 high-end color brands that seem to think differently! This is a great time for those of us that love to see vibrant tones. 

The affirmation to close us out: "Both my inner and outer home are warm, welcoming, and full of joy."
